On the left hand side in the black column are a list of link items
Hover cursor over ‘Posts’, which will then give you a drop down list of 5 items. Choose ‘Add New’.
A new Post editing screen will open, which looks like this:
You must be an Admin of the Facebook page.
- Click on Discussion in the grey left hand column. Just to the right of this you may see at the top ‘Announcements’, but immediately below that box on the left, there will be grey writing showing either “New activity” ‘Recent posts” or ‘Top posts”. This is a dropdown list – choose “Recent posts”.
- This will show you the latest posts that have been put on the page. Look through the latest posts and decide which should be shared to the website. Posts within the facebook page are tagged under popular topics, including “Added to website”. The choice of topics can be seen at the top of the page on the right hand side.
- Click on “Added to website” to see what type of posts are saved to the website.
- Go to the post you’ll be sharing to the website and click on the three dots on top right corner of the post.
- Choose ‘add post to topic” (You must be an admin on the facebook page to do this) then choose ‘Added to Website’ and ‘save’. This will it will be tagged “Added to Website” at the top of the post.*
*This is important so other people know what posts have already been shared on the website.
Adding text content to the Post
- Highlight and Copy the text from the Facebook post.
- Go to back to the browser tab which shows the New Post editing screen.
- You will see ‘Title’ and underneath a larger text box to paste the wording. Choose your own title as a heading.
- Cut and paste the text content from the Facebook post into the large text box. Amend the text box wording so it is suitable for website users.
Adding images to the Post
- Right click on the image and save it to your computer.
- Go back to the new Post on the website and click on the ‘Add Media’ button below the title. This opens the Media Manager window.
3. Click on ‘Upload files’ in the top right corner.
4. Locate the file on your computer and, select it by clicking on it, wait for it to upload, then click on the blue ‘Insert into post’ button in the bottom right corner of the Media manager window.
Put your Post in a Post Cateory
Assign your post to one or more categories by selecting the checkboxes in the righthand column of the New Post page.
Publishing your post
When you’ve completed adding the text and any images and assigned your post to the relevant categories, click on the blue ‘Publish’ button in the right column of the New Post page. Once the post has been published, the button will change to say ‘Update’. Until you publish the Post, it won’t appear on the front end of the site.
- Go to WordPress Dashboard
- Choose ‘Posts’ then ‘All posts‘. This will display all posts in the order in which they were created, There’s a search box in the top right corner if you can’t find the one you’re looking for.
- Find relevant post and click on ‘Edit’ to make changes. This will open the Post editing screen
Don’t forget to ‘Update’ your post! The changes aren’t live until you do that.
