Thank you for visiting our website. After setting up the Buxton Street by Street COVID-19 Support group up on Facebook on March 16th, Anna Watson was quickly joined by Claire Mitchell and Caitlin Bisknell who have been instrumental in building it into what it has become

The Breadline is a new hardship fund currently in development, which aims to support the people of Buxton by providing a local line of defence against hardship. Supported by Buxton Street by Street and Connex Community Support, The Breadline is being led by Carolyn Kidd, owner of The Tradesman’s Entrance Café. Carolyn has volunteered with Street by Street since March 2020, and for the last six years has opened her café on Christmas day to provide Christmas meals and a social day for people with nowhere else to go at Christmas.
In 2020, the coronavirus pandemic increased the need for hardship support, as well as isolation support on Christmas Day. Over Christmas 2020, Carolyn and her team of volunteers provided 50 food hampers to families as well as delivering over 150 Christmas dinners to families and individuals on their own or facing hardship. It was clear that there was an even greater need for hardship support and so The Breadline was born.
