BUXTON FIELD CLUB – FINALLY A MEETING IN PERSON AND A CHANCE TO CATCH UP AND TELL TALES! 19TH MARCH 7.00PM
THE LAST IN OUR CURRENT PROGRAMME WILL BE BOTH OUR AGM AND AN INFORMAL AND FUN CREATIVE WORKSHOP LED BY SIAN TOWER. SIAN WILL HELP US CELEBRATE AND SHARE SOME OF OUR OWN EXPERIENCES OF THE NATURAL WORLD.
Most of us have had a memorable encounter with nature – such moments are often fleeting, but lodge themselves firmly in our psyche. We’ve perhaps seen otters, or dazzling dragonflies, been bewitched by a tiny flower, or glimpsed the turquoise flash of a kingfisher.
Sian will help us turn these moments into words, drawings or anecdotes that, in the form of postcards, can be used to inspire the next generation of nature lovers, through sharing them, not just with family and friends, but also perhaps on the Buxton Field Club web site – creating something like the wonderful Ghosts of Our Landscape Collection https://writingeastmidlands.co.uk/ghosts-of-the-landscape/
Sian is a fellow member of the Field Club, has been writer in residence with the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust and Wild Justice’s Hen Harrier Day and delivers workshops across a wide range of community settings. In her role as Education Manager at Writing East Midlands, she recently delivered the Ghosts of our Landscape project and specialises in engaging people of all ages to write for agency, and for pleasure.
This should be a relaxed and fun evening celebrating our love of the natural world and also being back in touch with each other. We are meeting at Buxton Methodist Church Hall, Chapel Street entrance 7.00pm on Saturday 19th March. Do please come and join us.
