Teenagers rescue 93-year-old Buxton resident after her mobility scooter toppled over in Ashwood Park.
Eunice Mitchell (93) who lives in Fairfield Buxton got into difficulty on Wednesday when she was travelling through Ashwood Park on her mobility scooter.
The independent 93-year-old spotted some poppy seeds that she wanted to take home and dry out along the path of Ashwood Park – As she attempted to grab the seeds her mobility scooter toppled over leaving Eunice stuck for five minutes on her side.
Eunice’s Grand daughter Tracy said: “ This is a message of thankyou to four fantastic teenagers in Buxton on Wednesday helping my 93 year old Nanna Eunice Mitchell. She is fine now just battered and bruised but whoever you are, a huge thankyou for helping her”.
HPL spoke to Eunice she said: “I was in shock when the accident happened and normally when I go and venture out there’s dog walkers, and plenty of passerby’s but for 5 minutes there was nothing! until four teenagers around 17-years-old came to my aid”.
She said: “I wanted to get names of the teenagers that helped me but at the time I was in shock and didn’t think”.
“I don’t see myself as old aged I find myself adventurous and independent I like getting out and still doing the things that I love”.
Two lads turned the mobility scooter the right way up and helped Eunice up, while the two girls attended with plasters for cuts sustained from the accident.
Eunice has been recovering at home since Wednesday and has also praised her Fairfield neighbours She said: “The community spirit is fantastic and my neighbours have also been incredible bringing me water and food and checking in on me to make sure i am okay”.
