The Covid vaccination programme is continuing at a rapid pace, with the first 4 priority groups being seen nationally as ‘completed’. If you are aged over 70 and have not yet had your vaccination please get in touch with us as soon as possible.
Derbyshire has the second highest uptake in the country across the top 4 priority groups, including vaccinations in care homes which is a fantastic achievement. This is not only down to the efforts of our colleagues, it is also with huge thanks to all our patients who are coming forward for their vaccination as soon as it is offered, which makes our task that much easier. Thank you.
On Monday, the next 2 groups of patients became eligible for vaccination – Group 5 and Group 6.
Group 5 are patients aged 65 to 69, and will be invited centrally by NHS England and asked to book their vaccination at a ‘Mass Vaccination Site’ via the National Booking System either online or by calling 119. The nearest sites to Buxton are in Macclesfield and Chesterfield.
Any patients in Group 5 who do not feel able to travel for their vaccination should let their practice know so that arrangements can be made to have their vaccine at their Local Vaccination Service in Buxton instead.
We have been asked to focus our efforts on vaccinating those patients who fall into Group 6, who are people aged 16-65 with an underlying health condition. This is due to the relationship between General Practice and those with long term conditions, and the importance of maintaining continuity of care for these patients.
Group 5 patients who choose to be vaccinated in Buxton will be called once we have completed Group 6.
This is an NHS England decision and we can only follow the guidance we have been given
Information on the priority groupings for vaccinations, along with details on which conditions fall in to group 6 is on the government website https://www.gov.uk/…/covid-19-vaccination-first-phase…
Please avoid contacting the surgery to check your group, we are experiencing a huge number of calls at the moment and need to keep the phone lines as clear as possible for those with health concerns.
