High Peak Borough Council was one of the first 50 areas to be selected to develop a business case for the Government’s £1 billion Future High Street Fund.
The purpose of the fund is for Councils and their partners to deliver “transformational and structural changes to address local and national challenges and diversify town centre uses away from retail”, in those town centres experiencing retail shrinkage.
The Council now has to submit a revised plan by 26th February 2021. We are not able to make fundamental changes to the objectives of the approved proposals or change where we spend it, but we are able to reduce or remove some elements where they do not fundamentally impact on the objectives. To help inform this process, we are working with:
- community groups and key stakeholder to ask them confirm their priorities
- elected members to confirm their priorities, and understand risks and impact of any proposed changes
- Asking local residents and business to confirm their priorities and make suggestions. The survey is now live and will be available until Monday 15th February (noon)
