A statement from the Office of Robert Largan MP
After the increase in cases last week, I’m pleased to report that the latest figures show a fall in cases in the High Peak.
Our rolling case rate has fallen by 33.6% to 98.2 per 100,000 with most of the High Peak seeing cases fall, including in Buxton, which had recently seen an increase in cases. Buxton South & East still has a relatively high case rate, above the national average, but its good to see numbers moving in the right direction. There have also been modest increases in Glossop town centre and New Mills East & Hayfield.
You can see the data for yourself here: https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/interactive-map
A huge thank you to everyone who has followed the rules and helped get our case rate down again.
The Glossop vaccine centre is up and running, as is a vaccine centre at Newholme Hospital in Bakewell, which I understand has started inviting patients from the Hope Valley. Another vaccine centre more convenient for the rest of High Peak is due to open shortly and I will share details as soon as they can be made public. Please wait for the NHS to contact you to invite you for an appointment.
As my parents are in their 70s/80s, I’ve taken the difficult decision not to spend time with them on Christmas Day, even though the rules would allow us to form a bubble. With the vaccine being rolled out, I don’t want to take the risk, as much as I’d love to see them. But these are individual choices we are all having to make.
We all want to see the restrictions relaxed as soon as possible. But it’s vital that we continue to follow the rules, look after each other and stay safe over the Christmas period.
As always, if you have any questions or need any help, just drop me an email on mail@robertlargan.co.uk
