It was an early start this morning for SNT officers!
Three juveniles have been arrested and taken to Chesterfield Custody, where they are currently being interviewed.
This is in relation to an incident on 30th November 2020, where a building was broken into at Pavilion Gardens and a window was smashed at the Leisure Centre.
Another juvenile had already been interviewed in relation to an assault reported at the same location, on the same evening.
Once again, we need to thank the public for providing us with vital lines of enquiry in relation to these offences.
In recent weeks, officers from SNT have been trying to tackle Anti Social Behaviour at Pavilion Gardens and although the majority of youths from the Buxton area are polite young people, there seems to be a small minority who think it’s acceptable to cause damage or use violence towards others. It will not be tolerated and we will look to prosecute those involved in any such behaviour.
We have spoken partner agencies this week to identify what youth work / diversionary actives might be available at present. Unfortunately, it appears the COVID / Tier 3 situation means that there’s very little engagement activities taking place at the moment.
We hope that we can look to drive some new initiatives with our partners when the law allows.
However, in the meantime, restrictions are in place and it’s important parents know where their children are, what they are doing and who they are with!
We’re trying our best to keep everybody safe.
Many Thanks

NOTE FROM BSbS TEAM – If you have a drive and focus to help young people stay occupied, safe, and engaged and are concerned current restrictions meaning less to do is creating boredom and more trouble to get in, please email us and we’ll put you in touch with the Safer Neighbourhood Team, Youth Services, and other local agencies who can help you to support our young people at this time.
