As a charity we have tried this year, we really have….
The closure of Pooles Cavern earlier this year left us with no income other than a small amount of membership fees. Weโve fundraised and begged and borrowed to keep us going, to keep our staff employed and to continue to look after all our woodlands for the benefit of the community.

The reopening of Pooles Cavern on a limited basis means that we are operating on a break even scenario or on a good week a small surplus.
A marquee lent to us and installed last week, at a hugely discounted charity rate meant that people could still come to our cafe and enjoy refreshments
even when the weather is torrential (like today
), just to support our income in a small way.

So it saddens us to report that on Saturday night a large group of youths (yes we do have you on CCTV) not only damaged the marquee but left copious amounts of broken bottles and glass as well as a hypodermic needle. It would appear that they had quite a party whilst enjoying their McDonalds and beer.

If you see large groups of people or suspicious activity at Pooles Cavern or on any of our land at night, please, please do phone the police.

Thank you and please share.
