Local men are being urged to visit their GP if they are concerned about symptoms that could be prostate cancer.
Prostate Cancer UK
says: ‘Right now there are potentially thousands of men with clinically significant prostate cancer who could be cured, but have not been diagnosed because of Covid-19.
‘The pandemic has made many men reluctant to speak to their GP about prostate cancer, especially when they don’t have symptoms. Referrals for suspected prostate cancer have dropped by 57%.’
Mike Harrison, co-founder of the High Peak prostate cancer support group in partnership with Blythe House, explains more about the importance of men speaking to their GP if they have certain symptoms, worries or concerns.
The High Peak prostate cancer support group takes place via online platform Zoom, from 5 to 7pm on the last Tuesday of every month. Find out more: https://blythehousehospice.org.uk/our-services/support-groups/
