Not to be defeated, following the cancellation of the Buxton Welldressings and Carnival, Two Left Hands would like to introduce our alternate project.
If you’ve seen our puppets in the Carnival Parade in the last few years you know we like it big, and bright, and arty, but also that our goal is to bring together people from across our community in a creative project which brings delight to a wide audience.
It turns out that barring a short wartime hiatus, the Buxton Welldressings have run every year since 1840!
So we’ve been working behind the scenes to bring you our very own nod to the welldressing traditions of Buxton and Derbyshire, and we want you to join us!
There are two ways to take part.
Firstly, we want people to create their own ‘welldressing’ style panel, any shape or size, celebrating Buxton, and the communities that we live in, and to display them in your windows or gardens during the welldressing period from the 4th of July, until Carnival day on the 11th of July. We’ll talk more about our theme for 2020 “The Heart of the Community” over the next few days.
The second option, if you are interested in being part of a larger project, is to create a panel on fabric, in a more weather resistant medium such as acrylic paint or permanent marker, to be sewn into a larger panel which we hope to display around Buxton during the same period. We’ll provide more information on this later this week so drop us a message if your interested in getting involved.
