Testing for key workers in Derbyshire is extending the COVID-19 staff testing programme for key workers, these are defined as anyone critical to the provision of health, care and other services. In addition to NHS staff working in our hospitals, community trusts, GP practices, care homes and hospices, the programme is extended to include public service key workers across Derby and Derbyshire. Healthwatch Derbyshire want to help ensure that all vulnerable persons receive the support they need during the pandemic.
The Derbyshire Community Response Unit is the main safe point of contact for any vulnerable person in the county needing support who doesn’t have help from a trusted neighbour, friend or family member.
Vulnerable people may include those on the shielded list, those aged over 70, people with underlying health conditions, pregnant women, those self-isolating due to the individual or someone in their household being ill with suspected COVID 19.
Derbyshire Community Response Unit is co-ordinating staff, local volunteers and NHS responders to deliver a range of support including but not limited to: shopping and food provision, collecting and delivering medicines, financial hardship support, providing contact and befriending calls to reduce social isolation.
For details and online form see: https://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/…/community-response-unit.aspx or call 01629 535091 Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm & Saturday 9am – 1pm.
Please ensure those on the shielded list have acted on the NHS letter they received by registering on the government website (even if local help is currently available to help safeguard throughout the pandemic): https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus-extremely-vulnerable. If someone believes they are in the extremely clinically vulnerable group and have not received a letter from the NHS they can still register or you can on their behalf.
Healthwatch Derbyshire remains open to make sure the people of Derbyshire’s views on health and social care are heard, this includes all health, social care and community professionals. 01773 880786 enquiries@healthwatchderby
