As the first organised voluntary response to the COVID-19 restrictions in Buxton, we are aware that all but a handful of streets already have an assigned volunteer through our initiative. However, we are working with the managers of this roll-out to ensure that between us all, not a single person is missed.
In addition, as a group run entirely by volunteers, we don’t have access to the kind of PPE or logistical infrastructure that a statutory body such as the NHS has. Therefore our aim to work closely with GoodSAM to ensure we all benefit from the pooling of resources, can only increase the wider offer for all of the residents of Buxton.
Please note GoodSAM is currently in soft launch and therefore releasing under 1000 referrals a day for the next few days – so please do not worry if you don’t receive any alerts.
Here are some useful links to the kind of opportunities the NHS Volunteer Responders are offering and what each role entails:

GoodSAM are aware that some referrers may request tasks that are for the wrong role or provide information that could be confusing (e.g. you may receive a request for shopping yet you have only signed up for a Check in and Chat role) – if this is the case, please just select ‘drop the call’ – do not select ‘On scene’ or ‘with patient’ – Please refer to guide for further information.
Thank you again for stepping forward to support your community and the NHS!
